Our Paint by Numbers

Vintage and Wine paint by number, the same love of good old taste

Among many other things, vintage and wine are hallmarks of class and sophistication. Both get better as they age. The older wine, the finer it gets. The more retro the vintage, the more sought-after it is.

People love wine and vintage paint by numbers because of what they represent. Vintage things represent a time in the past. A tangible memory that may be archaic but is valuable. It represents the history and stories that come along with it. They’re not new but they are timeless.

The same goes for wine. There are a lot of cheap wines that are available in the market. But the true wine lovers and connoisseurs who study enology know that a great bottle isn’t worth $10.

If you love wine so much, the paint by numbers Wine Glass & Bottle kit is a good project and decoration to have in your dining area!

Wine, the symbol of passing time & life in classical paintings

The drinking culture is a culture that dates to the earliest civilizations. So is art. The importance of the wine culture in ancient times was so great that wine became a symbol and a recurring motif in various classical paintings.

The wine was a symbol of passing time and life in the old, ancient times. When people like getting naked and drunk with wine. These festivals were called Bacchanalia by the greek-roman god of wine, Bacchus. Bacchanalian parties were known to be wild, raining with alcohol, and just generally rowdy. Bacchus sure knows how to throw a great party, hey?

Vineyards, typical landscapes of South Europe

A visit to Southern Europe is not complete without visiting the continent’s best vineyards and winegrowers. Wine estates that showcase acres of stunningly beautiful hillsides covered with grapevines. Each offering a different grape variety.

Viticulture can be traced way back the ancient times. Back then, wine and wine production were an important part of the culture. Although the wine-making technology was jumpstarted by the Greeks, it was the Romans who shared their grape cultivation techniques across Western Europe including Germany, Spain, and France.

These three countries are now home to the best vineyard and wineries in the world. Take a tour in a steep sloping South of France vineyard or on a volcanic hillside winery in Sicily. The tours usually involve going around the vine area and watching people picking the grapes to harvest and wine tasting in their barrel room.

If you are lucky, you can even enjoy a glass of a Special Cuvée or Chianti straight from the barrel if the winery allows such. Bring a bottle and a cork with you because you will want to take home tons of liters of it for your wine cellar at home.

How to paint wine red reflection?

Painting wine reflection is pretty similar to painting water reflections. I reckon it is even a bit easier because you’re not dealing with monochromes. There is more color in w ine than just red. That means you can play around with it more.

When painting a red wine reflection, you need to start by choosing the color gradient you want to use. A good gradient would be from super dark, almost black red to white with the slightest hint of pink.

Once you’re done with your outlines, start painting with the darkest colors first or the shadows. Once done, proceed to the mid-tones and blend before moving on to the highlights, which is the color with the lightest pigment.

This is the most common pattern artists use when painting reflections: going from dark to light.

Did not find your perfect winery DIY painting?

You can custom one from an old picture of yours!

Have you gone to the most beautiful winery or vineyard ever and want to recreate a photo you have of it? Or a picture of a cuvée that is special to you?
